What brake cables do I need?

So I went to rebuild my rear drums this weekend and ran into an issue - I don't know what rear brake cables I need. I have rear drums with leaf springs and a Dana/Spicer 44. A few months ago when I ordered the cables, I looked at Rock Auto and they didn't have any listed for a leaf spring truck so I went to LMC and they had a set listed for 1/2 ton leaf springs, so I bought them. Low and behold, they won't work though.

The holes in my brake backing plates are oblong and the original cables have a pretty substantial bracket that attaches to the backing plate. I was scouring the internet trying to figure it out and stumbled up on K20 cables which have the same bracket. Do I have oddball backing plates? Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Re: What brake cables do I need?

I think I found the right cables. Inline Tube RE418-$59 each. I'm talking with LMC to see what they're going to do about advertising cables that don't fit as advertised in their catalog.

If anyone out there has these same cables, I would recommend carefully removing them, cleaning and reusing them so you don't have to pay $120 for new cables that you will hardly ever use.

Hardly ever use???
I use mine every time I shut my truck off! But the new cables and backing plates definitely look 3/4-1 ton style, could be an earlier years thing..

Re: What brake cables do I need?

To close out this thread, I got a refund from LMC and ended up buying a set of cables from Inline Tube for $120. They look just like original and are same length.
