i am tryinng to figure out how to replace the wing window glass on my 54 gmc. now i am trying to get the glass out of the frame not take the window out of the truck. a friend told me to get a heat gun and heat it up so the frame expands and it should come out pretty easy but i figured i would ask you guys first. it looks like it is glued in but i could be mistaken.

Are we having fun yet !!
I ended up breaking mine as I was trying to remove the glass then ended up with a
1/4" drill bit on my cordeless and working all the broken parts out of the frame.
This kept me from spending $249.00 on a new frame and glass!!
I did place the glass ina vise with a rag holding the glass and using a block of wood to tap the frame, but it was glued in and broke.

mine is cracked so that dosen't matter. but the good piece of glass is still in another frame bute the frame is rotted. i guess i'll break the broken one out of the good frame and try to cut the good glass out of the rotted fram without breaking it. whats the worst thing that could happen. oh yea then i won't have a wing window glass. ha ha

Must be glued in. I got lucky and found a pair in a barn sale last fall. Already replaced!

i say break it you will need to clean it out good to drop the new one in... i didn't think the 54 had a wind wing. maybe a gmc thing

my truck is actually a 53 cab but it was a 1.5 ton. i have a split windshield too. not the 1piece.
