Angry My truck scares me..

I always wanted a vehicle that would be so fast it would scare me.. Well my parents left for NYC for a week and thats when i got to work on my 68 GMC..in 3 days i yanked my stock 350 and 350 trans sold it for 500 bucks and replaced them with a 735hp blown 383 and a beefed up 350 trans with a 4500 stall in it..the motor ran 9.60's in a 67 nova b4 i bought it.My parents came home took one look at the truck with the BDS scoop and the twin 780 holley's stickin out of the hood and they werent that happy.i wonder what my stock dana 44 will do when i pull my first hole shot with it... I'm gonna post some pics this week.. $7000 bucks for a all roller blown 383.. and a 350 trans.. couldnt pass it up.. the BDS stage 2 blower alone is worth 4500 bucks.. Anyone got any pics of fuel cells or roll cages in pickups.. tryin to get an idea how to mount this cage and fuel cell if im gonna run it at the track.. Thanks!

dear god...that poor d44 probably wont make it out of the garage with that kind of power, let alone a couple runs on the track. sounds cool!

Yea but that tire will hook some time and that is when it will break. Been there done that and it cost me money. I had the truck at the track one time running decent street tires. I did a massive burnout and when it hooked boom, clang, clang, clang. There went the rear end. It busted the spider gears to pieces and knocked a couple of chunks off of the ring and pinion.

requested pics of cage

Here's a couple shots of my cage. I'm glad to here that you are concerned about being safe. I had some close calls in mine before getting the cage and they convinced me to put it in.

for me the worst part about a full cage...for me anyways,,, is not the rear window but the fact that it had to be welded to the rear frame thru the bed.....to be cert. now you can't take the bed off

Hey, 67dragtruck, did you make that center console? I'd love to have a tracing of the sides to make my own. I can just fit the rest.

Sometimes I wish I wou7ldn't go on this site. Here I am sitting here in my office just thinking that my truck plans are just what I want and BAM some body has to do an interior like that one and all of my plans go right out the freakin window. Boy am I glad that I am not out to sea right now. Atleast it gives me something to work on. Very Nice Truck!!!!

console question

Cat Fuzz,

Yes I did make the console. I can probably arrange a tracing.

roll cage question

Yes as someone already answered the cage goes through a plexiglass window. I couldn't bring myself to cut holes in the cab and this seemed like a much more attractive option.

I have seen it done one other way. I saw a guy that ran the 2 down bars to the rear from the cross bar that goes behind the seats through the back of the cab under a bed cover and tied in. Probably wouldn't certify, but better than nothing.
