Finally getting paint!

So when i bought my truck over 5 months ago, i said that one of the first things i was going to do was get it painted. Well today i drop it off to get a nice new coat of Toyota 1EO Magnetic Gray Metallic. Here are some before and during pics....Friday when i pick it up i will post some after ones.

Pics:
1) the day i bought the truck
2) about 3 weeks later, after a good cleaning and new rims
3) body work last week
4) more body work
5) all primed and ready to go!

Re: Finally getting paint!

I have had mine painted 3 times in the last 2 years. Got hail damaged two weeks ago and now it is time to go for another coat.
Looking good Rooster. They always look nice with a good fresh paint job!

Re: Finally getting paint!

They take off enough just to make it smooth again. I am debating on going back with White Diamond again. That is what is use on the Cadillac Escalades that have that silverish cream color 3 stage...LMC had a pretty one on their cover a couple of years ago that was a burgandy, real pretty I thought. Wished I knew what color that was..

Looking great, Rooster! Keep up the good work, that truck is getting better by the day! I like all the improvemements you've made. Did you ever install that thermal relay kit for the electric fans, or you still toggle switchin'?

I also love the Diamond Pearl. FYI the new Escalades also come in a metallic burgundy that is absolutely beautiful! Not sure yet what it's called tho...

Re: Finally getting paint!

I just picked up my truck this morning. Unfortunately it is dark and raining today so the pictures i took just aren't doing the paint job justice. So i am only going to post one teaser pic until i get some sun to do a photo shoot in.

Re: Finally getting paint!

Yup...when i brought it to the paint shop they said they charged extra for the door jams so i told them to skip it (i had already painted them black), but when i picked it up they had been done along with the inside of the doors. So that was a nice surprise. All in all i think they did a good job...for $300 I'm not going to complain. There are definitely still some blemishes and stuff...but I'm not trying to build a show winner. Just something respectable with a little style. Next time around when i have more time, more money, and more space...we will take it up a few notches. I should add that this is my first c-10 and the first time I'm tackling a lot of the jobs I'm doing.

Hey, for some reason I was thinking you were gonna go with green paint. Now you have to update your avatar.

Re: Finally getting paint!

300 ??!!! Did that include the price of the paint or is that tacked on the top? No matter either way -- pics look great.

You took that truck from looking like a beater "Sunday afternoon run to the dump" truck to a nice looking driver in just a few weeks --- congrats

But does the carpet match the drapes? (i assume interior is next on the list)

Re: Finally getting paint!

Actually, I started with gutting the interior and cleaning it up best i could (on a shoe string budget). Here is a picture of the inside...the door panels have been treated with the same stuff that is on the dash since this was taken, and I'm still looking for a decent bench seat.

Re: Finally getting paint!

Yeah, $328 to be exact, paint and everything. It is an econo job...i when in and haggled with them a little, then pulled out a $200 off coupon I found on the internet.

The body work and primer was done by one of my friends, I was going to have him do the paint too...but the guy took damn near a month to finish the body and he didn't do a primo job. So i figured 300 and done in three days was a better route to take.
