need help with my 250!

I just put a 250 in my 62 with some help from a few friends, we got it turning over but it wouldn't start. Replaced a bad fuel pump and I think its an electrical issue at this point. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that covers the secondary ignition? I've been trying to post pics on here for a while but I can't figure out how from my phone, and my computer crapped out. please help on both accounts! Thanks.

No. It's got the old points setup. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. Gapped the points. I'm not sure I have the coil hooked up correctly though.

pretty simple positive is 12volt from ign switch and neg goes to the points, are you sure the points are set and clean?

I cleaned the points with some sand paper and gapped them with a business card. I will check them again with a feeler gauge to be sure. Does the condeneser go to the neg side?

Re: need help with my 250!

For the life of me I can't figure out how to post pics from my phone or I could show you, but I just made some from 3/8 plate and 1 1/2 inch 1/8 wall tube with some polyurethane bushings. Is your truck 4wd? If not you should be able to bolt up the later model perches that go from the frame rails to the sub-frame. You might need a spacer to accommodate the shorter frame rail.

Re: need help with my 250!

I'm also using the original 4 sp top loader but you need to find a small block bellhousing. Do you have the hydraulic clutch?

Re: need help with my 250!

Seems like those bellhousings are getting harder to find, and yes hydraulic clutch. plus there is few other issues like the water inlet, throttle linkage not bolting up to the block, i think a couple other things too, what other issues did you run into?

Re: need help with my 250!

So it still won't start. I've got power at the points, but no spark. New cap, rotor, points, condenser, coil, plugs, wires..... did the static timing to set the distributor, but even if it were off I should have spark right? Racking my brain!
