Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
I need to replace the Exhaust Manifold on my '57 3100.
I'm thinking of using Dual Exhaust Fenton Headers. BUT ... I can't find a complete Dual Exhaust System for my '57. Any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks |

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
I've looked at the National Chevy association page and believe that they are car only with nothing for trucks specifically. I may be wrong but studied their website yesterday when someone was looking at a similar item.
What's wrong with doing it the old fashioned way? Buy the headers, install them and then take the truck to a local muffler shop to have the dual put on. By the time you buy the 300+ pipe kit and pay for oversize item shipping you will have as much or more than any local muffler shop will charge tied up in it.

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
Hey mr48chev,
Thanks so much for your reply. I like it -- just put on the headers and then let an Exhaust Shop (with a Pipe Bender) do the rest. And I'm sure you're right. Paying the Pipe Bender might not be very different than paying for Pipes and Shipping and installation of that package. I'll check into a local "Bender". Thanks so much. |

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
Well I'm going to have to improve my search skills as I spent quite a bit of time on their website both yesterday and today and didn't find that. I honestly didn't see one thing for trucks on the whole site and didn't find that exhaust system.
OK I finally figured it out, you have to scroll all the way down the Williams Exhaust page. Not a bad price when you count the headers in the deal.

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
I have a related question, I have the Williams split manifolds and plan to install them and have a local shop do up the rest of the exhaust. So, my question is - how do you guys get the truck to the local shop? Is it safe to drive with open manifolds? I know it will be loud, but can something go bad running it open? Exhaust gases melting wiring? Do you guys towed it there? What have ya done?

You can go to O'reilly's or autozone, and put couplers on your header adapters with turn downs. about $20.

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
That or rig up some pieces of scrap pipe to get the exhaust down away from things enough you don't worry about wires or what not.
It looks like they have a flare on the end of the pipe where it connects to the header that matches the old Chevy pipe or other Chevy pipes that are the same size.

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
I am seriously considering the Williams header package from these guys. Can't really beat that deal if it fits.

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
That's the BIG Question: "If it fits".
I "assume" the '55 2nd Series system fits my '57 3100 (2nd Series) -- but we all know what "assume" means. Does anyone have experience with that Dual Exhaust package from National Chevy? Would it fit my '57 3100 ?? Thanks |

Re: Complete Exhaust System for '57 with Fenton Headers
I used Fenton headers, then straight pipes out to the rear cost $200 at the local muffler shop. No guessing involved, and got to pick the diameter I wanted!
Been a while since I got to work on the ole gal, but hope to get back at it soon!
