Body Swap question (60-66 cab & bed on 77' 2wd Blazer frame)

Greetings from the 73-87 Square Body side..............

Although I am a square body man, I always had a special affenity for those 60-66 trucks. Have any of you guys swapped a 60-66 cab & bed onto a 73-87 frame? The reason I ask is that I have a 77' 2wd Blazer I picked up 4 months back for $ 200 (no motor or trans). The kicker is that it came sans title. I am having one hell of a time getting any info from the State of Maryland as to the last titled owner. I might end up pulling everything off of it I can use and junking the body. I now I am dealing with a 106" frame. Is it possible to do?

a blazer frame is shorter than a shortbed,,,so if it did work it would look goofy,,,my .02

60-66 wheelbase is 115'' I believe.

Re: Body Swap question (60-66 cab & bed on 77' 2wd Blazer frame)

I have mounted a '62 SWB body onto a '74 SWB frame. I would not recommend it in a 2wd application as the side profile on the '73-'87 frames are a bit different than the '63-'72 frames. To mount the older bodies on the '73+ frames you will need to it one of 2 ways. 1) build new body mount brackets on the frame which translates to about a 3" body lift whick looks about like a stock K10. 2) channel the body down over the frame. Mainly the box and the rear of the cab.

I would stay with a '63-'66 frame and just transfer all the running gear from the '77 Blazer. If you don't have a frame, you can also use a '67-'72 frame with minor modifications.

Thanks guys. You have been very helpful. I guess I will scrap that idea on look for a roller to satisfy my hunger in the near future

I don't currently have anything that shows much. I need to get a hold of the guy that owns the truck now and see if I can get some pics. I've been meaning to do that since this question seems to come up a lot.
