I believe they came on 4wd's only.

Edit: Here is a pic of my 68 K20 with the metal tube.

4WD's only, most tossed them out and replaced it with a 1-piece
hose so that they were not having to use 2 hoses and 4 clamps.

Re: metal radiator hose?

I was told that originally the entire hose was metal. But they kept breaking or cracking due to engine vibration. That's why GM put a rubber hose on each end of it. At least that's what I was told...

Re: metal radiator hose?

4 wheel drives came with the metal hoses. But they were never all metal. I bought mine new, and have only replaced the rubber one time. I got a chunk of gas filler hose (heavy wall) Can't imagine anyone replacing them with all rubber, to save the price of a couple clamps. Could be most of them went by by from people running straight water, and they rusted out. But to answer your question. That's the way they came.

Re: metal radiator hose?

Most have been replaced due to decay. Just about everyone I've seen is pitted (at the very least) at one end or the other and they don't seal well. If the truck has been sitting for a while, they may have rust inside as well. old man jimmy, that is one of the cleanest I've ever seen.

The trick is to find a 1 piece hose that fits because they aren't listed in any of the parts store's computers.

I used some universal straight hose and cut it to fit. I also painted mine Chevy Orange because I didn't know any better at the time and I already had the paint in the garage. I now know that they should be black, but that can always be changed. Here it is before paint and after.

Re: metal radiator hose?

Not really worth anything as far as I know. Maybe $20 at the most. If it's in good shape and you like the look, use it. If not, post it for sale and see what happens.
