Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

ford taurus/merc sable are the best to get. they are two speed and flow more CFM than itll ever need. I personally have one out of my friends camaro waiting to get put in only cuz it was free tho. Only thing keeping me form actually doing the install is me not thinking the stock alt in my 85 will handle it.. I suppose there is only one way to find out

If I was spending money I would go taurus and never look back.

Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

How about ease of mounting . My buddy have me a mid 80s camaro electric fan but I don't think I'm goin to use it. Looks hard to mount. And kinda small single fan. I've it the temp relay for it in a box waiting to us. Also almost all taurus and murks fans are already out of the cars at the junkyard. I want somthing with a shroud too not just a fan. To pull more air if any one got any pics it would help alot!

Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

I currently have an LS1 dual fan setup.

I'm replacing them with a Mark VIII fan. I need more air for A/C. Engine cooling is not a problem.

Here is similiar conversion.

Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

Taurus fan is the way to go..If my truck gets to 200* my fan kicks on and cools it down to 180* in about 2 minutes. It's 2 speed and I only use the low side. It will suck a towel up against the grill and hold it there.

Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

has to be a 3.8 taurus or ford. however me id run dual fans lt1 or ls1 would be a simple swap. i think dual 3.8 fans is overkill unless you have diesel.

Re: Junkyard electric fan swap?

definitely a taurus fan. My neighbor has a 68 Chevelle with a 400 small block that runs high tens in the 1/4. He has a taurus fan wired into a switch for the high/low and he said he only ever leaves it on low and he can cruise around town without it getting over 200
