Charging a power cap.... (what I learned)

So we all post up when we do something that looks cool or something we did right..

In efforts for us all to learn from each other... I'll post one of my screw ups.. lol..

I've put power caps in about 15 cars in my life.. NEVER have I ever charged one.. I run the wires.. plug them in BAM... we got tunes... I did the same in my c10...

I wasn't driving it much and the battery kept draining. I chalked it up to not starting it. But then I noticed it would die over night..
Googled for days and found that it might be my cap. I read that you have to charge the cap every time the your truck battery dies??

I found a few ways to charge it..
I unplugged the cap at the fuse (under my hood) then fully charged the truck battery. Then I hooked up the Neg. wire on my test light to wire running to the battery and then touched the point of my test light to the other wire running to the cap. (basically replace the fuse you pulled)

The light lite up bright and then slowly dimmed out. the reading on my cap went from 8 something up to 14.3 (the light never went completely out, damn near though) Then I replaced the fuse. so far so good it's kept a charge for a few days..

So I THINK I found my problem...

This my be common knowledge.. but I sure the hell never knew, so I thought I'd post... Might save someone else a few hours of crazy... lol...
