Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

Here's mine. Makes a huge difference in keeping the truck cool, and the sun off your neck. Feels like less of a fishbowl too

I went with high end ceramic tint, which really cuts the heat more than traditional tint.

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

I just finished spraying the clear on my truck this AM. I bought smoked glass for it but no pics yet have to wait for paint to dry! Mine is orange as well, yours looks great.

I just found a small local tint dealer. I think I paid about $230 for all the windows. Well worth it. I wouldn't do a tint job myself, and I'm pretty handy

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

i have seen their smoked glass on display at swap meets. All new glass tinted (oem) or dark smoked for i believe 300.00 plus shipping. That's new windshield, backglass, wings and door glass. The business is AUTO CITY CLASSICS in isanti minnesota, just outside minneapolis. They make glass for many classics this way, oem, or smoked. Their oem tinted i purchased as a replacement windshield and it was old style blue/green with sunshade band. Nice glass for 99.00. Good luck, Brian F.

That's pretty steep, especially considering you then have to do all the work yourself. The tint I bought is very high end, and the price included installation

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

mr b I believe the guys are talking smoked glass with the color actually in the glass, not just applying tint film to clear glass...that's why the price is high

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

I bought some smoked glass for a boat I used to have. These were custom-shaped, flat glass that they had tempered. IIRC, these pieces were not very expensive. I don't know why any glass company couldn't copy the shape of all our flat pieces.

Expat,

I have no info for you on the glass, but all I can say is that your truck is going to look so Bad Ass with it installed!

I love that orange! Mine is 524 Red Orange, and stock as heck, which is fine by me. But yours is will literally be "smoki'n!"

Congrats! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks Slikside! I do think the smoked would be awesome against the paint. The above pic was before the last cut and polish, she really pops now!!

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

I have a set with side glass for sale on the parts forum:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559365

Please take into consideration that it has the sashes and window vent frames. All you would need would be the rear window glass. The one from the truck came out of was broken.

OK man, stop right there! You can not come on here and say THAT about that already beautiful truck, and then FAIL to post an updated pic!!

That has to be against the board protocols!

(hint hint)

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

they make factory Smoked glass and its not a tint you put on.Its in the glass. My friend has a 1966 chevy 1/2 ton. He's in the Army but went to a military base back east.If you have tinted windows at a military base they will hand you a razer Blade and you have to strip all your Illegal tent off be for you enter the base check point. Military police don't play.Well he drove up to the gate it was cold that morning and the officer walked up he rolled down his window showed him the Id pass the officer told him that he could not come on base with Illegal tint.He told him there was no tint. One thing you never do is play 20 questions with a Military police. They have all the time to make your life hell. The officer walked in to the office came back with a scraper and had john step out of the truck. He then tryed to use the scraper but No tint.Officer walked back to the office and told john to have a good Day and press the button to higher the gate.John was worried that he get a right up But nothing come of it

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

Mine are tinted & similar colour to yours, i would defiantly do it. The windows rolled down in the one but you can see the back window in it, the best I could find, I really need to take some better pics of my truck.

Re: Smoked glass, thoughts ??

My opinion blacker the glass the better. My daily driver is 5% back window and tint strip. The side windows are 20% on top of 50%. I love tint.
