Heater core installation question

I have a 1970 c10 with no
AC and I took the heater core out so I could paint the cover that holds it into place. My question is that I forgot which way the heater core fits. What I'm trying to say is that the heater core has two holes to connect to the hoses and don't know if the small hole on the heater is on top or bottom or does it even matter how it goes? Please help me.

Re: Heater core installation question

Small outlet goes on the bottom, large outlet goes on the top. Here is the hose routing diagram for reference.
