Need help deciding what engine

I am in the process of getting my parts together for my 67 build and I am looking for advise on what engine to use for my truck. It is a 2wd short box that I plan on using as a cruiser, looks, reliabality are most inportant. My three choices are all 350's, carb, TBI, or TPI. Of these, I have all the parts and have done these before. The TPI is my favorite but I am not sure that it will look right in this truck, The TBI has a more classic look but with newer fuel injection, and of course there is the classic carb???????

Go with what you like. Sounds like your set on a 350, out of the three Which do you like? Remember its your truck! You have to live with it.

That's a tough decision, I know because I'm trying to make the same decision. I change my mind almost daily, today I'm back to the relatively stock carb version of a 350. Good luck with your choice.

Tuned port was my choice and I love it.

The answer is simple:
You're the only one you need to please, so just please yourself!

Re: Need help deciding what engine

My vote would be 1st choice TBI then carb then TPI. the tbi would be very easy to tune, dead on reliable and cheap. The carb is also cheap and easy to tune so there is that. The tpi is cool and all, it is just a lot more expensive to wire to run. I know you said you have the parts, but someone else might try to make the same desision and read this thread. JIM

That looks great! and it's simplicity is what still appeals to me. The carb setup would be the cheapest and easiest to build up down the road. but the reliabilty of fuel injection is tough to beat, I'm torn.

Do you have any pictures of your engine bay? What fuel tank did you use? Here is a picture if a TPI that I did in a 74 Nova.
