Ever see your old truck?

Anyone ever accidentally run across an old truck or car they used to own?

I was looking for a picture of a '72 Chevy ramp truck today to show a co-worker a truck like one I used to own. Well whaddya know... I found my old truck! It was on racingjunk.com in 2012 for less than the seller paid me to get it. It felt kinda strange to see it for sale. If I'd known I would have bought it back.

I used to see my 84 cutlass around the city alot the first couple of years after i sold it. It was in mint condition and had 64 thousand miles. Everytime i saw it after it was in worse condition and a different person driving it. I regret selling it everyday.

Just about every time I leave the house I see one of one of my old rides. I have been building them since 1987 and it is my living.

Re: Ever see your old truck?

I have seen a few of mine. One I saw in a magazine with a few changes. I stumbled onto the baby blue '63 Riviera I had sold. This person must have bought it from the guy I sold it to. I've seen a couple thers on the road and had to do a double take. They just kept on going and never gave a glance my way. How sad

Is it not frightening surreal how we can spot those things in a mass of traffic? Its like you gravitate to looking that direction before you actually i.d. the vehicle.

Re: Ever see your old truck?

Nope. I've only owned one and it's not going anywhere.

I see my 72 Chevelle on occassion, for going on 20 years. To this day the fender remains without the cancer I removed, painted over with just sealer. That and the guy removed the original rally wheels and replaced them with "cool" crappy mags. IMO, you don't remove original rally wheels from a 72 Chevelle, there is no substitute. At least not for a stock 350 Malibu, yellow with white vinyl top. Other than rust in places, the car was near mint. Sold it for $3600.

Re: Ever see your old truck?

I see my old 1969 truck almost every day since I've never sold it. However, I traded in a 65 Impala SS in 1969 in Anaheim, CA, and saw it 2 or 3 years later almost 400 miles away in Yosemite N.P. I sold a 95 Suburban in 1999 and saw it 150 miles away a couple years later. The guy said the dealer claimed he would be the second owner. I said "nope you are at least the 3rd". I also sold a few more to people at work and to a good friend. I saw those frequently.

Even more of a coincidence...
Just a couple months ago I got a forum PM from a guy in Detroit who works for an advertising agency handling some of the Chevrolet accounts. He'd seen a picture of a unique 1974 Vega I'd owned on a vintage picture thread on this forum. He joined just to PM and ask me if I'd sold it to him in 1979 in Wisconsin. I told him I'd sold it in 1977, but it was without question the same car. Turns out his dad worked with me.

I don't sell much, but when I do, I never see them again.

Re: Ever see your old truck?

I bought a 79' stepside years ago with a blown engine. Replaced the engine myself, drove it for a few years sold it for $3200.00.

The guy drove it for a year, overheated it, dumped COLD water in it cracked the block then he paid $3,000.00 to replace the engine.

He drove it for a couple more years, overheated it and dumped cold water in it again! He then paid another $3,000.00 to replace another engine!!!???!!!

He was into this truck for over $9,000.00. He must have loved it!
