Rewire Steering Wheel

I started rewiring my truck today, but ran into a road block. I got the steering wheel off, but how do I get the steering column apart so I can rewire the internals?

Re: Rewire Steering Wheel

Everything in the steering column is in the turn signal switch. You can get a new one from the vendors here or pick one up at NAPA.

Re: Rewire Steering Wheel

This info is for a tilt column - not sure if the non-tilts are similar, but depending on what you have it might help. I couldn't get my turn signal switch out of the housing easily, so I ended up taking the housing off first (brass punch), then removing the switch. I had to go deeper into the column anyway for my project. Removing the housing will also make it a little easier to feed the wires through.
