Junkyard Trip - HEAVEN!!!! many pics! Dialup-er's beware.

My brother and I recently went to a really nice junkyard near our hometown, called B&K.
Got to walk around and see lots of stuff.

Cool pics.

That looks like a 292 or 312 Ford motor. I think from mid 50s to early 60s.

I like how the truck in the 3rd post down has the word 'ROT' spelled on the tailgate, unfortunately that's all it is doing in a junkyard, is rotting lol

That first picture was really cool.
Do you know how far this yard was from the Indiana/Michigan border? Is it in lafayette?
Did any of the trucks seem to have useful parts on them? (fenders and stuff)
thanks
brad

the salvage yard is called B&K and it is just outside Warren, Indiana. Warren is just over an hour south of Fort Wayne, Indiana on Interstate-69. I can get you an exact address and directions later this evening when I get home.

As for good fenders, thats a tough one to judge. I am really really picky when it comes to body parts because I stink at doing body work. So, I'm not the best judge. But, I think the yard had at least 12 or 13 of our trucks that still had decent parts on them.

If you make the long trip down there, I can recommend some other good salvage yards in the area too. I will get the list tonight. Its worth the phone call at least, and they can go out and look for you.

Hope that helps!
I'll post again in a little bit with more info.

as promised.....

the junkyard is:

B & K Auto Parts
8681 SE Jeff Rd
Warren, IN
260-375-2910

and some surrounding yards (that i've been to)

Bryant's Auto Parts, Inc (a little bit more pricey)
9831W 700S
Warren, IN
260-375-2720

Charles S Hough's Auto Salvage (where i got ALL my parts for my truck ---its the best!)
2159 W State Road 18
Bryant, IN
260-997-6785

And here is a US Directory or Salvage Yards (by State)

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for all the help! I'll probably make some calls this weekend, and I might decide to make a trip down there sometime. Michigan sucks for salvagable parts.

oh its a LONG ways away..... maybe 2 or 2.5 hours.

i didnt go there from lafayette.... i went to visit family, which lives in Huntington, IN. they are on the east side of indiana

bryant is on the east side of indiana, just north and east of anderson, indiana.....

it is closer to bluffton, indiana

it is about 45 minutes from huntington, indiana, so i am gonna guess its a good 1.5 hours northeast of indianapolis and a good 1.5 hours south of fort wayne, indiana

take a look at a map --- its over by the intersection of highway one and highway 18.....

thats about the best i can do for you...

good luck!
jewels.

look at the RED star on this map:
