will rear suburban door handles fit on front of 96 silverado?

I have a 96 silverado k1500 . It has been broken into many times. I want to remove the door locks and rods. I have a alarm that will power the locks . I was going to just put a T bolt in the lock holes or do some thing with jb weld to cover the lock hole. I just got this truck and it seems like a magnet for trouble ! So my question is can rear exterior door handles from a suburban or crew cab fit on the front of my truck? Has anyone done something like this?

Yes, you can take the rear exterior door handles without the locks and put them on the front doors.

It will work, but you will have a problem if your battery ever dies or your keyless entry has a malfunction.

Thank you for the info. I have a optima battery and I doubt bolth locks would malfunction at the same time. It is a chance I will take.

It's no different than the risks someone with shaved door handles would take. You might hide a backup hood release that you can get to from the outside so at the very least, you could get to the battery just in case. That's what my friends with shaved handles all have done.

A related question I wondered the other day while at the pull a part... would a Tahoe rear tailgate handle with the key lock work on a truck tailgate? Or is that an actual door handle used on the back of Tahoes & Suburbans?
Could make a nice factory looking tailgate lock.

I've never looked too deeply, but I'm 95% sure that it's the same handle used on the front passenger side door.
