12 Volt Starter
The wiring, gauges, etc. on my 50 AD is in good shape but I would like to have 12 V starter for better cranking. What do I need to do to accomplish this? Does anyone/vendor have a kit available just for this? Thanks to all!

Re: 12 Volt Starter
Starters aren't usually too voltage sensitive. The one you have will probably work well for a long time with a 12 volt battery. It's the battery voltage that counts, not the starter.

Re: 12 Volt Starter
A 6 volt starter on 12 volts is going to spin roughly twice as fast. Speedbump is correct that it will probably last a long time as long as the engine starts easily and you don't crank on it for long periods of time. When you have problems with it you can take it to a starter rebuilder and it can be changed internally to 12 volt but expect to pay about $150 to $200 dollars. You can go up in voltage without much problem but you can not go down. 6 volt to 12 ok 12 volt to 6 never work.

Re: 12 Volt Starter
6 volt starters like 12v battery juice.
