Complete running 292 engine in DFW area

I just pulled the 292 out of my truck.

It's a complete running engine. I have done within the last 6 months:

new fuel pump
new water pump
new thermostat
new valve cover gasket
new intake/ exhaust manifold gaskets
rebuilt the carburetor
HEI distributor
new spark plugs

I'm selling it complete with the correct 292 frame mounts. Has an automatic flywheel and matching starter. Has alternator and belt too.

Air cleaner does not go with the engine. If you want the air cleaner, it's an extra 50 bucks.

Price is 350 dollars for the engine. Will trade for stuff too. Tell me what you have to offer.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Re: Complete running 292 engine in DFW area

Scoti, the beater got a 350 and turbo 350 auto last week. I'm thrashing full speed ahead to make Decatur as the maiden voyage. My wife is going to fight with the ladies at the courthouse tomorrow to get my antique plates approved and registered.

jsbgump, the engine has unknown mileage. I got it from member teeitup 13 months ago. What I do know is, it was a Kansas school district truck originaly. When I got it, some things looked fresh. The starter was fresh rebuilt. It had NAPA Gold filters on it, NAPA belt, all of that. I've never known a school district truck to get very many miles on it, or miss out on any maintenance, so I had good confidence.

Basically, a running , rebuildable 292 core is worth about 300 bucks from what I see selling nowdays. I'm including the 292 engine mounts which are also kind of rare, they are specific to 292's only. I figure the whole deal is worth the 350, especially with the HEI and the other new stuff I've put on it.

Do you also have the engine harness for it?

Wiring harness? No, I reused it on the 350.

By the way, I'll also throw in the standard trans flywheel and bolts with the engine if the buyer wants to use it in a standard application. The flywheel is 292 specific, as it uses 1/2 bolts rather than the usual 7/16 GM size bolts.

If jsbgump doesnt get it would you consider trading a 88-98 step side bed for it?

I don't need a bed right now, just money to finish some shop details.

no disrespect meant. Just wanted to enlarge the Font so people would know this 292 is long gone!

None taken. But if you run across another 292, let me know. Maybe then I'll catch it a little sooner.
