Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

They both run very good, but one is rough and the other is rougher. I bet you can’t pick out the rougher of the two!

I bought the Cheyenne super mainly for the buckets and for all the NOS parts it came with. The Sierra runs extremely good and I might drop that motor into another truck.

The first truck doesn't look that bad. Nice score!

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

You Texas people kill me.
The first truck is damn nice.
The second truck is OK. That dent in the bed looks bad, but otherwise a solid looking truck.
You guys have it good and don't even know it. But, that's a nice problem to have!!

That looks like a great score......My guess would be the Sierra is the rougher of the two......

So it sounds to me like you're scrapping both of them after you pull the motors??

Not necessarily, The Cheyenne super has a nice AC/high hump/bucket seat/headliner cab that I was desperately look for a year ago until I sent my cab to the painter.

And, I hate to part the GMC, I love that truck!! I just don’t have the time to swap the cab and bed side. I have the parts, Just not the time.

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

DANG!! I want a nice running, decent shape 71 or72 3/4 ton with alot of options and a factory BB so bad; and cant find one for the life of me. And it seems that every time I look on this board someone has found one and they are always parting them out! I understand your reasoning but it just kills me to see good trucks like these (or at least the green one) parted out; mainly for their motors. Wish I wasnt broke I would offer to buy them.

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

The damage on the Sierra is a shame. I'd chop the frame on the green one, stick a short fleet on it and drive it for a while, people would drool.
Nice scores.

Judging by the wheels/ hub caps, these are both 1/2 tons.

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

Yep, they are both 1/2 tons. It is a shame about the GMC, it would be a super nice truck. I am debating about supplying a cab and a bedside and let someone restore it.

How bad is the cab? Looks like it needs a door, rocker, and cab corner. If the floors and supports are good I wouldn't replace the entire cab.

Good Luck!!!

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

That GMC cab would require the same work to fix that area as a rustbelt truck needs to get the rust oututer floor,corner,inner/outer rocker, cab support, maybe a bigger floor section.I`d rather fix that than a rusty one.
If you start pickin` on the green truck, let me know about the dash bezel and GB door applique...pleeze.

I'd be interested in one (or both) auto column/BB-th400 linkage setups and one BB flywheel, if you part these

Re: Picked up a couple 72 BB trucks this week!

I guess I feel a little bit better knowing they are 1/2 ton. I still think either one would be phenomenal candidates for a resto in my book. If you want to make some money and sold them whole I am sure there are plenty of people on here that would buy them. I know I would if I had the money. If you do go the parting out route I guess I will be a buzzard and request to be at the front of the line for the Big Block A/C brackets.
