Red face Project Monster Truck Finished (New 49" Iroks)

Finally finished (for the time being) My 1996 Silverado. It has over 20" of lift now, and is street legal in Kansas. The 454 purrs like a kitten though I haven't pushed it very hard yet. Will upgrade to a 1 ton axle as money situation allows but for now it will just see pavement. It is a blast to drive and I can't wait to take it up to school to see faces up there. That's it for now. Re: Project Monster Truck (Magnum) Finished

NICE Trevor!!!!!! Mudder is talking about a mutual friend of ours who had one built up in the air like yours, a lady turned in front of him here in Meriden, he was going 35 MPH and it flipped him all the way over, he was lucky and didn't get hurt real bad, she wasn't, she died. ANYWAY you did a great job on your truck, Randy

Re: Project Monster Truck (Magnum) Finished

Randy(teeitup)
That doesn't sound like something I want to do.... poor lady. How do you not see something like that and not go.... no way I am pulling out in front of that.

Mudder- I think my dad and I are going to try and attend Springfield. Can you give me advice on how to put my truck in the show???

For those that are asking the combinations to the powertrain..... 454 pushing about 450 horses, th400 out of a dirt track car, mated to a divorced 205 transfer out of an old international or dodge to keep driveshafts lengths the same.

The spring perches are the same as you would find on any 1973-1987 era pickup because we stretched an older frame as opposed to doing a straight axle conversion on a newer frame, plus we are running the old strong parts and it was easier and cheaper to do.

I will try to get pics of the supports under the cab and pics of the bed mounts.... the bed mounts aren't pretty but we put a 40 gallon Suburban tank in between the frame rails, and a newer frame dips up in the back. The cab mounts look very nice(I've seen some nastier ones anyway) The main deal was keeping the front of the cab from sagging the front cab mounts. This was fixed my putting a brace/crossmember over the transmission over to both frame rails.

Thanks again guys for the nice words. Trevor
