Gas tank skid plate

Does anyone know if the skid plate is reproduced or a company that sells aftermarket ones? Also does anyone have a picture of a stock skid plate on a blazer? After I lowered my blazer 5" im worried about the gas tank bottoming out.

Re: Gas tank skid plate

I have never seen a company that makes them. The factory ones can be found for sale from time to time....

Re: Gas tank skid plate

think a board member was making them to exact specs, and selling them.

Hmmmm, new one on me, lost of peeps here have 4/6 drops and nobody
has ever mentioned bottoming out, if it's a factory tank then it should be
no lower than most of your suspension, is this just for peace of mind?

Re: Gas tank skid plate

It wasnt on flat ground and i only had about 2.5"-3". With it on flat ground i have closer to 5 so I think it will be ok. It will be a while before I need it any way, since I cant get the ls1 to fit.

Re: Gas tank skid plate

Yeah It does. I cant raise it up because it hits the hood and I cant drop it down because it is sitting on the crossmember. My only hope is that ece's mounts will work better than S&P'S do.

Re: Gas tank skid plate

I think it was earl87gt that was making the skid plates... Was thinking about getting one for mine too. But if I get the gas tank into the ground, I may be doing something wrong....

Re: Gas tank skid plate

The skid plate is a simple fab.I have metal plate bent at a truck hoist shop near me.I give them a drawing with measurements and angles, they sell the metal, and charge a little bit to bend. They`d prolly charge no more than $20 labor on a skid-plate.It only takes a few minutes,it`s the 10' hydraulic brake that I pay for.
