Plug for 71-72 combination/proportioning valve
This looks like a bleeder or zerk to me in the right front brake port of the combination valve. Is that what it is? Is this sort of plug what was used from the factory, or does this happen to be what somebody used on this particular combination valve? Is it normal? it looks like a plastic plug in it.
I understand this is the port to right front brake for some vehicles, but this is plugged in the 71-72 C10 truck application |

Re: Plug for 71-72 combination/proportioning valve
It's a bleeder screw. There is no seat for a flared brake line in that hole. Not sure what a '71-'72 combo valve looks like at this point. I ended up removing mine and putting a Wilwood valve in for the rear brakes on my truck.

Re: Plug for 71-72 combination/proportioning valve
I've seen a bleeder screw and a brake line attached to that port. Not sure what the different applications would be (a ton, I'm sure). Mine doesn't have that port drilled, just an indent. Are you trying to rebuild it? I'd like to know how to remove the metering valve.

Thanks 68 P.O.S. and Steeveedee. I wanted to know if I was sending them something completely weird that they would not want to work on, but your answers gave me confidence there's nothing out of the ordinary with this valve so I expect they should be able to rebuild it. |
