please drain fuel safely
this may end up in shop safety but I think here is a good idea to begin.
it appears some "mechanics" were draining gas from a car into 5 gallon buckets prior to fuel pump replacement. I'm guessing they didn't have them grounded properly (put it on the floor at least). all it takes is one little spark. http://keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=111884 this is why we use a metal 30 gallon barrel and have a wire alligator clipped between it and the car. we also have a seperate battery mounted at least 2 feet above the barrel to run the pump. |

People take advantage of gasoline when it comes to safety seems like anymore. At least no one was killed.

I remember reading a news letter from a club i was in SOTO (vw trucks&bus's) I had a single cab truck (61) anywho, letter was about a member who was working on his gas tank feed line to the pump . he pulled the line off&it started to leak gas so he grabbed a hub cap to catch the gas& slid it under the motor it made a spark when it hit the ground and that was it total fire in seconds. he got burned(from the fuel on his hands) this happened in his garage! the truck was also burned up( it was later repaired) the garage had a little damage (just lucky the truck was pushed out of the garage) sorry for the long post. we all can learn from this tragic story.
