Side Exhaust

Hey guys. I just wanted to get a preference from you all! i have a 69 cst 20 with a mildly built 402. I have 2 1/4 inch exhaust with dual flo-pros out the back and it sounds pretty great. I am thinking about going to 3 inch and having it dump out before my rear tires out the end but i am not too sure yet. and should i go 3 or 2 1/2?? PLease post some pics of what i want?! (:

Re: Side Exhaust

I am running glass packs with 2 1/2 pipe with large tips. My glass packs are short and fat. Lots of sound. Love the looks and sound with what I am running.

Re: Side Exhaust

3" might lose some of your low end power. 2-1/2" is probably the right size.

Re: Side Exhaust

Thank you two for the replies! i still have some thinking to do. The guy who would be doing it is an older truck guy (he like fords though ) and he said with my engine, i shouldnt loose any power with 3 inch,i would gain some when racing, but other than that, i would just have some bragging rights.

Re: Side Exhaust

Big Block 402 with Hooker long tube headers and Cherry Bombs, 3" all the way out and I like it.

Re: Side Exhaust

I was running a 350 with headers 2 1/2 in pipe and flowmaster 40s. I like the side exit, but the sound wasnt as good without a crossover.

Re: Side Exhaust

I personally think 3" would be too much for it, but it'd breathe better at high rpm. I'd go 2 1/2".
