Drivable with no fenders/hood?
Driving to get it painted...no bed, hood, inner/outer fenders? Seems like if I just add some angle iron between the cab and radiator support that I could drive it to get the cab painted-am I wrong? Yes I know it's not as safe. Thanks

Re: Drivable with no fenders/hood?
I believe you are correct.
Might want to strap the wiring harnesses to the angle iron support, so they don't get tangled up in the wheel or anything. I did what you are proposing (almost) as I drove my truck less the box over to the paint shop. They turned it around in one week. Then, later in the summer, I took them just the box. They got that in and out in a week as well. Details are in my build thread, linked in my signature (pages 5 - 8). Paint shop was probably 1/2 mile from my house. K

Re: Drivable with no fenders/hood?
Renting a trailer or having it flat bedded to the paint shop would probably be cheaper than the citations for no lights, directionals, no glass if its out, etc. etc. If a police officer sees you he will see a vehicle that has "Please pull me over" in bright neon written all over it.

Re: Drivable with no fenders/hood?
You are joking right? Are you trying to get a ticket?
What could a flatbed or trailer possibly cost? $40, $50? A ticket - alot more than that.... |

In my case the pickup IS the trailer towing vehicle. If the truck is down, there's nothing left to pull a trailer with. Plus - I added some temporary tail lights, since I knew I was going to be driving it for a week or so with no box on it. K ![]() ![]()
