Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1491788644

Even though it rained Friday still was a great meet for me! Picked a few treasures including 4-8"/6bolt 4nub rims and another 4 from a member in the area. All the stuff mostly 67 made the 17hr trip back to Canada.

Re: Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

Ha!....another canucker that was at the meet. I wonder if we walked right past one another?....or any of the other forum members for that matter. I remember seeing some Alberta license plates there but I think the 'Canadian content' was down due to our low dollar.
Our trip was predicated more on a bit of a 'Portland Get-away'...and then some swap meet time.
Regardless, yeah the rain and winds on friday were pretty tough but it was a good meet in my opinion....lots of very good deals and bargains.
I will try to post up some of my stuff which includes...
GMC grill with eyebrows and light bezels
2 bumpers....one '72 and one 69-70
A couple of really nice air cleaners...including a dual snorkel job.
A few other finds include some radios, nice emblems and trim, some really great P01 hubcaps, aux. battery tray, carb spacers, quadrajets, manifold heat shroud, etc, etc, etc.
All of this...and my wife came down to help me (what??)....I felt like I was living in a parallel universe...lol.

My wife and I were in Portland for 6 days. We had a great time. Wish I thought of calling you Colin, would have liked to team up for dinner.

We were there, one of the worst I can remember for weather, been going since 1970. Got a boat load of trim and a new bumper. Best in the west!

Re: Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

I was there on Thursday , Friday and half of Sat. First time I did not go to sell, just buy and buy I did. Got tires and wheels for my hot rod project as well as a fuel tank. I bought a few decent core clusters and met a bunch of great people. I love the event and yes it was crappy weather on Friday but well worth it.

Re: Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

Ive been to the Portland swap meet twice. Once many years ago and it was just too much. Way more than a person can really take in.

The second time I bought a bunch of NOS stuff for one of my trucks from a board member. I drove down, met him at a gate, loaded up the car and hit the road lol.

Re: Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

Took vacation just to be there. Missed last year completely. The first time in decades (due to work). Lots of trucks for sale. If I had to guess forty plus. Counted five complete GMC grilles and core supports. Found a few goodies, some for the Burban.

Yeah it would have been good to set up a forum 'community' dinner or lunch....optional of course for any of the members that are a little more shy.
However, for those that would like to have quickly met some of the other guys in person tho'....it would have been a good thing....plus probably some great stories on some good finds.
We were staying down near Alberta Street, slightly southeast of the Expo fairgrounds (15+ mins)....great area and neighbourhood, and had access to some really excellent restaurants and taverns, all very easy walking distance.
We did the Air Bnb route and got a really great apartment....nearly perfectly located. (well worth a 'google search' for anyone going to Portland and doing some investigating on where to stay). Good to see the Portlandians are up on their craft beers....great variety.
Always like that event...and Portland is such a great city as well.
All good

I got to ask and I just curious. All you folks that buy multitudes of parts are they for your own use/builds or to stash for a rainy day or to make a couple bucks reselling the stuff.

I had shopping list of stuff I needed for my Burban so that was most of what is in the photos. The AMC cylinder head is a rebuilt 74 401 head. Which they only had the one so it was only $10. I will give it to a friend. And the Pontiac Intake will go on my GTO. I also picked up a Qjet and a 69 GTO shifter which I resold before I could get them home. So yes to all of the above, and to help friends out. I have to admit that I didn't get very much stuff this year. I was focused on the Burban parts.

I have 2 67's and 2 sea cans that I plan on filling with 67 parts. Just a sickness for me. I don't sell much unless I have 2-3 really good of the same parts for myself then I sometimes sell the tougher parts.

Re: Portland Swap meet finds post em up!

Got one GMC headlight bezel (it was too clean to pass up), some cheap hand tools like picks and stuff, new door latches and strikers, a 4x4 engine crossmember for a project, and a wheel cover.

Only paid $1 for the wheel cover. It's rough, but I just wanted one around so I remember what came on my wheels. I'll hang it on the wall.

Also saw an original spare tire carrier for a blazer. Didn't have enough cash, but got his contact info, so might be looking at that.

One thing my wife noticed about the swap meet....is how much walking and exercise you get in doing an event that big.
She is very active and in pretty good shape but by the end of the day, and 6-8 hrs of constantly walking...she could feel it.
I, on the other hand.....was still running on swap meet adrenaline...unique to guys and men, thus allowing us the power to continue late into the day and the night if need be...before collapsing into a cold glass of victory beer.

All good

Yes for sure! My Fitbit said I did 27,000 steps Thursday and 22,000 Friday.

Thanks! The bezel is out of a C30 camper, as is the speedometer and fuel guage. Shows 6802 miles. Supposedly the camper was in a flood 71-72 wish and never ran after just sat in a tractor shed. They are super clean so could be true. The old boy who sold them said he had been trying to buy the truck for decades. The rest I got here from jaybatta. Some assembly was required.
My all time record for steps was at the swap meet. I wore one for two years after I had back surgery. Found when I got off work and didn't have a least 7000 steps for the day I had better get some more or I would pay for it the next day. The record was 28,400. Which is apparently only an average day for most Amish farmers.
