Without pics is hard to put a value in a truck, definition of surface rust varies from person to person, what it may seem as surface rust to me it might be considered as rot by somebody who lives in the south.

A running 4x4 truck is worth at least $1000, if that truck has a V-6 then it must be a GMC, those motors aren't too common but not rare either, I have one in my Longhorn, they're torque monsters considering they're only V-6's, these motors were made from the early 60's to the mid 70's, here's a pic of mine.

I had a 1964 3/4 ton GMC in high school that had one of these......you are right about the torque. Coupled with the 4 speed w/ granny low, you could pull a house!!!

Heard the V6 from that era was a good one...they quit making them because they held up longer.

if they make something indestructible, why buy a new one or pay to get it fixed? Things must wear out and break so they can sell new ones. Its all about $$$
