A Feeler Ad For My '67 454 Shortbox

i really do love this truck but im gonna be moving off to college in a year and i cant take the truck with me. i really dont wanna sell it but i figured id at least get the word out because i know the truck was a pretty big hit when i first got on the forum. just a brief backgroud on the truck i bought it back on march 17 and since then have put on a speed demon 850 carb, billet HEI distributor, high-torque mini starter, high volume oil pump, and a few aftermerket gauges to keep an eye on things. tires are almost brand new (245/60/15 in front 275/60/15 in back). has 15" supremes in great driver quality but i lost one center cap last week lol ill put on a brand new set of center caps soon. has rust under the hood in the cowl area, a little on the outer rockers, and on the bottom of the doors. i have a rust-free pair of rockers, driver's side fender, and replacement rust free doors. has 2.5 inch exhaust all the way out the back with flowmaster 40's. the truck is in the shop right now having the transmission rebuilt along with a 2600 TCI street fighter converter and additional clutches added for durability. the truck sounds like sex just click the link in my signature to hear/see it in action. i have no idea what to ask for it i have almost $2000 since i bought it back in march and i have every receipt. would you give $8000 for it?? as i said, this is just a feeler ad... any feedback would be greatly appreciated and please ask any questions in this thread.

P.S. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY INSPECTED AND IS A DAILY DRIVER IN NICE WEATHER... AND YES IT OWNS THE ROAD FOR SURE

Just IMHO $8 grand would be too much. However if you repainted the truck and maybe put a/c in it people would be knockin your door down to give you that for it. On the other side, you have a nice truck and enjoy reading your threads on the Sex Machine!

Since you asked, I think 4K would be more reasonable, but with the crazy high prices I saw at Charlotte this year and ebay... who knows?

Hows this for a feeler

I punch you in the face and see how long it takes you to feel again

But for a more realistic "feel" 8K is too much

Call me up some time so we can hang out

Seems high for the current condition. It has all the right things though bb, auto, SWB. When you decide on a price let me know. I am right here in Tyler.

cool thanks for the feedback guys i really appreciate it. im gonna keep building on the truck thats for sure and im not touching the paint or anything cosmetic anytime soon til i get the truck in the mid 12's. i wanna keep it an old truck and not be worried about whether i have a rock chip or two in my paint lol thats just me id rather kick your ass on the street. 4k is too cheap for me given that ive already invested half of that in the two months that ive owned it

I've seen people pay $4-$5k for a lot less. I'd say more in the $5-$7k range. It's got nice wheels, BBC, good drivetrain and a fairly rust free straight body. Not to mention it's a fleet side which a lot of people prefer.
I think you'd be crazy to let it go for less than $6k. But hey, I'm down in Austin if you really want to let it go for $4k

What kind of carb did you pull off to put the demon on? I may need a carb. I have a demon for my bb also hopefully one day I will drive it, it did great on the dyno.

Re: A Feeler Ad For My '67 454 Shortbox

Personally I think 4K is very low, 6K about right and 8K is too much considering all the repairs it still needs. That said, where else can you find an equally fun vehicle that'll get you into most car shows and cruise nights, run 12's and cost only 6K?

I'd keep it (on blocks if need be). If you really have to sell, start at $6,999 and come down a little, but not much.

I wouldn't give you any more than $2,000 for it. Of course that's only because I've only got $2,000.

Take payments?

Even though you have multiple answers already, that's $4K - $6K around here

yeah thats exactly what im thinking. insurance on this thing is dirt cheap, too. it really is a hillbilly cadillac. ill be tearing into the rest of the drivetrain this winter and making everything tasteful under the hood. i wanna have at least the motor done by next spring/summer. after that i plan on installing a set of electiric exhaust cutouts, a posi, and then if i still have the truck in winter '08 ill get the bodywork done and have a color shot on it. take care of the interior in the spring/summer of '09 and then what? well all that would be left is FORCED INDUCTION, BABY i dont think id have any problems getting 8K for it then lol
