Picked up a Buick Nailhead 425 for the truck

Wanted to see if there were any drawbacks to popping this old Nailhead into the truck; it came with a TH400 trans. Been meaning to find a V8 for it and this came along. Hoping to get it rebuilt soon.

You guys see any issue with a Buick like this in a C20 pickup?

I am not up on all things nail head, but they are a torquey motor. So it should be a very acceptable engine for a truck.

What year are you going to putnthe engine in?

f I can get it rebuilt, hopefully this year. However, I have been known to procrastinate.

I personally think they're overrated if you want any type of real performance out of them. For the amount of work converting it into the truck, you can get more bang for the buck using a 455. Small block chevy valves are larges than those tiny things. Yeah they're torqey, but only up to about 4k then they fall flat on power. I think it's more of bragging rights having a funny looking engine in the compartment than anything

Plus they are so E....X....P....E....N....S....I....V....E.... to rebuild..

Those things usually equal expensive and not that great to use though lol
