You've probably seen the ads for these. Mister Clean makes one, Scotch Brite makes one, and there are others. Anyway, I just got it wet and scrubbed with the blue side, then the white side. Made a huge difference. My old beat up grill actually shines now. I didn't take a pic, but it really did work well, and only took about 5 minutes. I'll probably take even more time with maybe some metal shiner, but this made a HUGE difference in only a few minutes.

I have heard it works well. Fancy schmancy new products. Back in the day we used a wad of foil & some buffing compound to get 'er done.

Hate to disappoint everyone , but it didn't work for me. I don't know if my trim is too far gone or what. I gave it a quick scrub with the eraser and it did clean it, but then I went over another section with just a regular sponge and it looked the same to me... I didn't even bother taking a pic because there was no difference. I went over the clean section too and it didn't make it any better. Mine might just be too beat up though.

Oven cleaner will remove the anodizing. The Magic Eraser has warnings on the package about using it on certain surfaces. I know it works well on many different ones, but I can't see it doing anything on an anodized surface, short of making it look a bit better. But, it won't erase 40 years of weather.

I have found the Anodizing too tough to remove (on old GM original equipment anyway). I don't believe the Magic Eraser is strong enough. I have also found it to work pretty good.

I even use the Scotch-Brite Pads from the Auto Body Store (White type only) with good results. They are stronger and so far have not hurt any Aluminum on my older GM vehicles. I also use them on older Stainless Steel as well as older Chrome.

Ah, the famous old "eraser on the grill" hoax. Comes up every year or two, some young hotshot starts up a thread about how he used to the Magic Eraser to polish his grill, or restore the plating on a carb, or remove the scratches from the speedo lens.

Then magical results are claimed, with photos "coming soon". Just wait "another day" while he finds the cable for his camera, and so on. And he just keeps laughing as we're all lead to believe that a Magic Eraser can restore a grill.

Fool me once, shame on you. But I've seen this old hoax too many times.

Not the case, mr know it all...but thanks so much for the accusation. I have better things to do than lie to folks on a forum.

The eraser definitely made a difference. And, for only about 5 minutes of my time, it was a good pay off. Whether the magic eraser is different than any other sponge, I don't know.

We have had rain and snow since I shined the grill, so pics would not have looked so good. You can sit there and think I owe something to you, or that I'm trying to pitch a hoax all you want, but I'll get to it when I get to it after this weather clears up.
