I have seen these around alot and i really want one but have no idea where to buy. Anyone know or have any ideas where to check? Thanks for any help!!!

i don't see them? I see they have the weld in ones but not the aluminum inserts. Am i not looking close enough?

i've seen entire louvered tailgate skins in catalog's.i'm wondering if maybe that dude just took it some where and had that piece done?

I have never seen the louvered inserts for sale...just the whole skins.

I assume he had the louvers put on his own insert.

If it was on ebay or a website you could always ask him, just a thought. Did to a guy on ebay once for is bucket seat set he had in the truck.

I did talk to that guy and he said that the previous owner had bought it. He gave me another idea tho. What about a plain tail gate insert for a blazer? That would work. I could relocate the tailgate handle and that would clean it up alot. Heres some before and after piks i did in paint.....i think it looks hot!

I'd be willing to bet these guys are taking the stock piece to a custom shop and having the louvers stamped and then polished.

possibly, but i doubt it. They were prolly offered by some company in the 80's or early 90's and they don't make em anymore? I have seen many louvered trims pieces on these trucks like the window rain gaurds and the trim around the cab like that blue truck i posted. Prolly was a fad or something and it just wasn't selling so they ditched it. I can't see all of these being custom built.

The LMC piece has no holes.

I was just on that LMC page and i am not quite sure if it would fit right. I mean if it fits in the indented part of the tailgate but mounts don't line up thats no problem.

Na mine from my 89 blazar has the holes in it. from the gmc logo. But this idea of making one has me looking at it and thinking maybe. If i mess it up in no big cause its scraps.

I've been looking on eBay, but they are hard to come by and not cheap either.
