Well, with the winter salt and the cold it was finally time to retire old yeller today.
She has been my work truck and daily driver for the past 7-8 years and it was really sad . Was starting to get enough rust spots on her that it didn't present well at a customers place. I was doing a gold and white 71 to replace her with but fell behind on that rebuild and this 88 popped up so it was just fate. She'll get a relaxing spot out by the barn to rest and maybe wait her turn in the rebuild cycle to be all she used to be.

She runs circles around the 88 IMO.

Was gonna say RIP, but I know you wont let it sit long. Congrats on the 88. See ya on that board too now. You know what, the one you are retiring looks better than my pride & joy?

Gee, you really need to start a classic truck collection with the retirement of this truck. (Not like you already have a collection.)

I would think the late model truck would be easier to drive and have a better heater. Wonder if we will ever be restoring the 88 and up trucks?

I don't know about better heater. That's one thing chevy trucks have always been good with, HEAT!! Now if you got rusty holes everywhere there might be some problems.

My`92 lets slush build-up on the sides and outer corners(anywhere the wipers don`t swipe.It always has since new.The speakers are where vents need to be.There`s too much glass for output or something.I have to freeze my feet and cook my head to come close to defrost it.

A contractor in town here had a real nice looking '71 that he used everyday, he got alot of jobs because of that unit. He retired it last year and bought an '01 silverado, he enjoys it since it has 4 wheel drive and a/c but he wishes that he had of kept C10.

As far as the heat goes in the newer ones, we have two '89's and 1 - '93 at work and all three of them put together don't give you decent heat, mind you they all run on propane which takes some of the heat away from the motor to vapourize the fuel but that is after the heater core. The two extend a cabs are brutal for heat, the reg. cab isn't that bad.
