texas parts hunt successful

packed up and left to avoid hurricane Lili this weekend, and struck out for Ft. Worth, TX to visit and go parts hunting. Found an almost unmolested 67 longbed at Little John's in Haltom City.
Got a perfect grille, header, and front fenders (hood was gone) for 110.00. Went back the following day to possibly get a few more things, and you'd be surprised how fast these parts dissappear. These parts are in prep for the 71 gmc swb fleet that i bought last week. Gonna be a productive winter project "if" i can set aside enough funds to work at the pace i want.

Thumbs up

Was wondering how you did over there. Glad the storm to mess things up to bad. Sounds like the unexpected trip was productive though.

I was over there this weekend and only saw 1 1967.
I believe it was a lwb and originally white.
Were you on the north side of the yard?
I think I saw a total of 6 :3 69-70's & 2 71-72's also the 1 67.
They had all been pretty well picked over.

Also, Did he give you some good prices?

I suppose I better get back and lay claim to the parts I was considering before they are gone.

yeah hutch, i saw all of those too and little john's has always been good with prices compared to the other yards around ft. worth. the brown one that was originally white sitting in the new arrival area was the best for body parts, but was not on the chevy side. i always go to the new arrivals side first, then to the chevys. i actually did'nt get the fenders from that truck. there were 3 leaning against the fence coming in. i picked the best ones and got the header too cuz they were already off, and it was hot and dusty out there. went a little further down the road (PACKS) and found a perfect engine wiring harness (looked like a repro) on a 72 long step and the guy wanted 75.00 for it. i almost sh*t went he said that, AND i would have to pull it. some guys are just greedy, and i left him standing there with his smug attitude.

thanks for the offer seanh71, i have already shaved the pass door and installed the solenoids. this will be the first shaved ride that i'll be doing for myself. can't wait to go full wireless remote - doors, tonneau, start, & windows.
