Gauge cluster
I have a '68 C20
It does not have the tach or vaccume gauge. I'd like to have a tach for obvious reasons. What is the vaccume gauge used for? |

Like SS Tim said in this post --> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=558552 the vacuum gauge was used in medium duty trucks with Hydrovac brake boosters.
And as also discussed in that thread, a vacuum gauge can be used as a fuel economy gauge but the size and placement of the factory gauge isn't well suited for that purpose. |

If I put in a new gauge cluster, and include the tach, just as well have all the gauges filled.
I may try to just add a tach, and replace the dim lights. |

If you are just looking to fill that vacant hole at the bottom, I think the most useful thing to put in there is a clock from a 73-87 (after about 1980 they were quartz). Not original, but useful.

you can also contact TBONE1964 and get a volt meter conversion kit to replace that useless amp meter. They look like they should of been there all the time.

HotRod, no they are not. I don't know if there are dimmable LED's.
