Question about steering Wheel?

I think I made a mistake by putting a "13" steering wheel on a 1968 c10 short step side. I believe it may be making it harder to turn with. The truck just got power steering about 4 months ago. Should I change it ? and if yes , to what size? The original was just way too big.

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

I have a 13.5" Grant and I think it's a little too small. I think the smallest you should go is 14".

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

You're driving a truck not a Vega or Chevette. Those little steering wheels are only good for driving with hand cuffs on...

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

I dunno. I put a 13.5" grant into my 87 (I know, I know... different truck), but I love the difference. It completely transformed the way the truck drives. It feels like I'm driving a normal vehicle now instead of a school bus. The truck actually feels like it responds to input through the steering wheel.

I'm a big fan of smaller wheels.

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

I got a wheel out of a trans am or something... it's a 13.5 or 14. I like it. Even the 15 inch padded 4 spoke as seen above seems huge now, and there's more thigh room. Not that I have huge thighs... but I like the wheel tilted down quite a bit.

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

I'am putting a 14" Grant Banjo wheel on my 72. Have power steering. I think it will help. I have the old stock wheel (16" I think) that was on the truck without power steering and it seem a might to easy to steer with the power steering.

Re: Question about steering Wheel?

Here's why I love the small wheel and the tilt;

Very comfortable IMO.
