Adding to my library

I would like to add some books to my library. I am interested in a parts interchange book that will tell what parts will work for my 1964 C-20.
I plan on converting it to a more user friendly cruiser.

Re: Adding to my library

I don't have one but a friend of mine told me to get the Hollander interchange "bible". I haven't looked into it much but he said it tells all the parts that will swap out.

I don't know of any book that will tell you what you are wanting. However this forum has all the info you need to accomplish your goal with your truck.

Do you have any specific issues you want to adress first?

Re: Adding to my library

I agree with the earlier comments. A Hollander interchange manual was the paper equivalent of a computer back in the old days and would identify all the different makes and models that used a particular component, like a carburetor, brake drum, piston, rocker arm, body parts, etc. It was particularly helpful if you had a rare vehicle, because many of the parts were commonly used on other brands. It won’t offer ways to improve your vehicle, just what other cars will provide the same parts. The only books I can think of that offer improvement suggestions have to do with customizing or performance enhancements. Fortunately we live in the technology age that offers forums like this one, where the experiences of others can provide a lot of solutions.

Re: Adding to my library

http://www.americanclassic.com

has several books under their 'literature' section.

I have a copy of the reprint of the superior interchange manual, just bunches of part numbers of what interchanges... some interesting diagrams.

The other vendors have various books/manuals/how to books for sale.

Re: Adding to my library

I realize this site is amazing when comes to all Chevy, GMC truck (1947- present) but I would like something tangable. I like to have books, read stuff etc etc...
I look at the Hollander web site and it is a good source. I think I will be getting myself some Christmas presents.
