Upper A arm bolts

Anyone replace the bolts that go through the frame for the upper a arm?
The ones I ordered from LMC seem to be a bit too big and wnt fit through the frame.

Re: Upper A arm bolts

They should have splines, slightly bigger so when you press them in they are tight

Re: Upper A arm bolts

They were noticably bigger and the spine was twice as long.

I called a GM dealer kinda near here and they said they can get them in 3 days so I think the project is kinda on hold till then.

I'm just going to send the others back to LMC for a refund.

I'll take a few pics to show the difference.

Re: Upper A arm bolts

pebbleboy in 71 they made the upper a-arm bolts a larger diameter and discontinued the smaller diameter bolts, the bolts your dealer will get you will be the same larger diameter as those from LMC, your supposed to drill out for larger diameter when replacing the old ones, if I remember correctly they went from either 7/16" to a 1/2" or from a 1/2" to 9/16".

Re: Upper A arm bolts

Here is a pic ot he bolts.
The shiny one it the one I got from LMC pn 30-0269
the funky one is the org I am trying to replace.

I'm not sure you'll be able to see the size difference but with what GMC Paul said it's correct. I was also wondering why the spline has almost been trippled.

Like I said a Chevy dealer near here has them on order for me. If those are the larger diameter ones I guess I'll have to drill
