Question Blazer tub dolly?

Hi, looking for ideas as to what to use and how to build it to keep my blazer tub off the chassis.

I need to get done the rocker and possibly the inner rocker as well and a dew dents here and there and since I tought that I would paint or coat the underside of the whole thing with something to protect it from the weather or whatnot while I have it off the chassis, I will need to get the tub at least 3 or 4 ft off the ground.

This doesn't have to be mobil since it will stationary outside a garage (on gravel) and it will be covered of course, does anybody have any pics of what works best?

Thanks beforehand for any replies.

Paul.

I think somone on the site is currently working on their blazer and has it on a stand, but I can't remember who. I know several have recommended having the hardtop on the blazer when repairing the rockers due to the support it provides to the body. I'm no expert by any means, but that is something to think about.

Just curious, what does the tub alone, w/o top, seats, roll bar etc weigh?

When I pulled my body off I welded 1" square tubing across the door opening before I cut the rockers to keep it straight

Thanks for the advice there nubomb, I dind't think of keeping the top on before

grnddwn, I'm welding some metal bars across the door opening so the tub doesn't deforme as the old rusty rockers get pulled out and new ones welded in.

Thanks for the input guys.

Still looking for some tub dollies/ stands to get me an idea how to build mine.

Paul.

Made mine from 4x4's and 2x6's. 4 heavy duty rubber casters from northern tool. Should be able to see some pics of it on my site.http://www.wraymedia.com/1971%20Blazer/2002-12-29b.html

Thanks for the reply Darrel, but how did you keep the tub from flexing up on the front? it looks like yours kind of did from not having the doors on.

Does the rear are actually sit higher than the front?

Yeah it bowed a little so i put some wood blocks on the middle to shore up the difference. After that i could get up in there without the body flexing.

The tub actually sits higer in the back than in the front. Almost a foot I think. The vertical supports were cut to stick up taller on the back end so it rests on the far bolt down points near the tailgate. Basically the cart is a complete rectangle with the 2x6's in the back extending higher to meet the bed.

I'd send you the dimensions, but the Blazer is being worked on at a garage about 60 miles away and i only get to it on the weekends once and awhile. Let me know if I can help
