Lubbing the peddle shaft - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Mine has been squeaking real bad for years and I've never seen a proceedure for getting some grease up there.Clutch and brake share one shaft but I thought there'd be a zerk fitting/Don't see one.Do I have to remove the shaft to grease it? And "if" I need bushings,is that an easy job? Thanks!

I lub my wife and my truck, and I even lub my dog - don't lub my clutch/ brake shaft though.

Might lube it once in a while. I would think a good squirt of WD40 would work -something that would get in there without having to take it apart.

what i'd try would be to spray real good with wd-40 while working the pedals no lubricating value but will clean out crap then using spray white lithium grease for the actual lubrication

there are no bushings in there. the metal shaft rides in the plastic firewall mount.

where as the clutch and brake do have replaceable bushings which can still be gotten from the dealer for like $.25 each.

Thanks,that's what I'm talking about;When I push the clutch peddle I get a loud squeak.
I've tried shooting wd40 up there and it seems to help for awhile,then it comes back.Guess I'll just splurge and get those two bushings and do 'er up right.
To some of you guys above ; I lub bushings.

WD is worthless in the machinery world. It only gums up stuff, atracts dust and dirt. Use a good aerosol lubbe like Gibbs.

I think I would miss the squeak.I've had three of these trucks as daily drivers and they all have the same squeak.I don't even know if I would be comfortable driving an auto since it wouldn't have the clutch squeak.
I lub my wife and dog and lube my column shifter.
