AD inner cowl panel
Gentlemen, I have some patch panels on order and I had a couple questions on where to start.
I am replacing part of the floor, inner to out cowl panel, and inner cowl panel (kick panel). The outer cowl doesn't need replaced because they are straight and only the very bottom portion needs fixed. I was thinking about starting at the inner cowl panel and working my way out to the inner to outer panel. Decent plan? Also, what is the best way to remove the inner to outer w/o removing the outer panel? Drill the spot welds and pop it out? Thank guys |

I will do same the same, from the inside out, drilled out welds, inner cowl panel is very rusted, it came out easily.

I've got the same thing to do and have been pondering how to do it without taking the whole section of the cowl apart and still make it look right.

I pondered this same question on the passenger side of mine. I hated the thought of destroying original rust free body metal but, that was until I got into it and realized that even though it had not rusted thru it had become paper thin over the years. I was also glad that I had ordered the complete panel as it was almost as thin at the top as it was near the bottom... The amount of time saved and the better clean up and proper prep of the hidden areas was well worth the extra few dollars spent on the complete panel..

I figured I was (and may still have to) going to have to drill the spot welds out on the outside panels and work my way in to replace the inside kick panels on mine.
It isn't that big of an expense but If I have to take it all apart it is going to take some time to do it right.

The inner cowl panels do not fit. I had to straighten and re-bend the curve to fit. I didn't use the inner to outer panels as they too struck me as home made looking. The notches to go around the inner cowl ribs are too wide. I chose to use the center section of the inner to outers and tray and save the more original looking panels.
