A/C heater box question...

The previous teenage owner of my '71 GMC 1500 equipped with factory A/C decided that he was going to throw out all the A/C 'crap that was under the dash to save weight so it would go faster (at least he left the box for the heater core and evaporater under the hood). Now I am left with almost nothing under the dash for heater. I have been able to find almost everything except the defroster/heater selector box that attaches to the S duct coming from the heater core box. My question, is the defroster box the same for A/C and non A/C trucks, or is it specific to A/C trucks. I have a lead on a few parts trucks, but they all have no A/C!
Looking forwards to any/all replies that can help me!!!

TIA!!

Mike
