motor
My shortbed has no motor in it. I kind of wanna rebuild a late model 350 4 bolt main I have. This truck will not be a daily driver, so I want a real rough idling motor. What is a good camshaft for that? I am working on those pics guys!

Re: motor
Get the edelbrock performer kit. It does real well and is all matched together to get the most out of everything. They are getting around 400 hp out of these kits...

Re: motor
Tighter lobe seperation cams 108-110 will exhibit some of these characteristics as will longer Duration 240ish. Be careful here. You can have all that rough idle cam, and loose a ton of performance, have low vaccum and have a pooch for an engine that does not get off the porch! On the other end my advise is to call a cam company say like Crower.... Tell them your engine specifics. Compression, head flow, rear ratio etc...And they can get you into a cam spec that will perform decently and give you a decent bad boy idle.

Re: motor
CompCams just released a new line of cams called Thumper Cams. Gives you the sound of a radical cam with mild manners. Check 'em out.

Re: motor
they are made only for sound, not for performance

Re: motor
I was under the impression he wanted the sound but with streetability. They have three different grinds ranging from mild to what I would consider "hot-street".
Was just giving him an option. lilbuster20 - If you want a radical cam then look at the Doug Herbert HERCBH2-H, 285/285 adv. with a .555 lift on a 110. I'm running an older version of this cam with a .575 lift and it pops pretty good. And for a hydraulic roller cam it's a pretty good price. keep in mind that if you go with a radical cam like this that you'll need to make sure to set up your tanny to handle it...i.e. running a high stall convertor...I'm running a 3800 in my TH400 for this cam.
