leak from an axle tube.

I reseal diff cover 3 times now and it's still leaking. I finally brake clean the whole housing and found a leak. It's leaking from the axle tube and drips down. How do I stop it? Mig weld the axle tubes?

If it's leaking where the axle housing meets the carrier case then i would think it would have to be welded. There are no seals at that area.

Make sure your vent hose is clear and not clogged up. That is a major cause of oil leaks in the rear end.

This is true but fluid should never leak from that area. Something must have caused the factory spot welds to break allowing the axle housing to rotate one way or another. Years ago I lost control of my '68 El Camino on a curve, hit a culvert that almost knocked the rear end out from under the car. When we started to put the car back together we noticed that the left axle tube was leaking at the pumkin from the hard hit it took. The only way to fix the problem was to weld or replace it , we replaced it. We went from a 10 to a 12 bolt.

I just resealed my rear end and everything leaked: tubes, diff. cover, axle seals. The vent tube was so clogged I couldn't even get compressed air to blow through it. Now that it has been replaced, NOTHING leaks anymore, even the axle tubes. Just a suggestion...
