67 rear coil springs helper air bags and blazer gas tank

i'm still new here but i'm going to give this a shot hopefully i word it correctly.i have a 67 longbed fleetside with 3 in. drop coil springs ,i like having the coils but when loaded they can't handle the load,i bought some airbags that fit inside the coil bot nobody makes a kit for these trucks anymore that i know of so i think i have to drill a hole in the frame to run the air line,so does anybody know of a solution? a kit i overlooked ? coil springs that handle the load better ? i don't really want to bag it and replace the coils.also i have the plastic blazer tank and the steel braided rubber fuel line,has anybody else had trouble with the 10 % ethanol fuel maybe eating away at something,i keep getting black pieces of something in fuel filter to the point where it kills the truck,does anybody still make the old galvanized metal blazer tanks ? thanks for reading my rambling ,Ron

Maybe if you post a picture of the bags it would help us to understand what type they are.

i don't have a camera handy,they are the old style kind that you put inside the existing coil,thanks for reading .also i need the rear lower shock mounts still does the board have any kind of prefered place i should buy them from ? i need the u bolts too

Do they look like these? If so I used jeep spacers and drilled the spacer for the air line.



I ran the hoses to the back and drilled out the lience plat holes to use the valves to mount it.

for a mildly lowered truck that is going to do more than grace car shows, i'd go with 3/4 ton spec rear drop springs. 1/2 ton rear springs are no good for hauling loads regardless of height. using the proper springs is a much cleaner install than bags inside coils. keep the 1/2 ton springs in the front and the ride will be fine.

Just how is 3/4 ton springs the correct spring on a 1/2 ton?

The bags spacers can be bought direct. I did a write up on this back when I installed them. I even had the jeep info. I don't have it anymore but call them directly and they should be able to help.

I've used braided lines that weren't rated for gasoline as fuel lines in the past (hey - they were free!) with poor results. If they are gas rated, but were made before ethanol gas, that could be a problem too.

air lift is the company you need to get ahold of, i have the same set up as Andy does on my burb. Works awesome. Nice soft ride, but air them up when I need the added capacity and still works great.
I don't have the company's info on me at the moment, but they do have a number to call and are very easy to deal with.

I've never towed with mine, but I have towed in a F-150 with the bags (not the same kit, but same idea and brand) and it worked fine, better than when the truck was stock. I have had around 1800 pounds of old radiators in the back of it, aired up, and was perfectly fine. Like Andy's set up on the red truck, I ran a seperate air line to each bag. If you use one valve and 'T' it off to two bags, then when turning, the weight adding up on one side can force the air into the other bag, negating the whole reason to have them. However, it can be a total PITA to get the left and right at the same height, and on mine, one bag does leak down a little faster than the other. (any air ride will leak down, some faster than others, but they all will... ask any trucker, they'll tell you the same)

I have hauled my utility trailer a few times with a golf cart on it for very short distances and since putting the air bags on it hasn't had a problem at all!!
I put them on the truck for bottoming out only though I don't haul nothing anymore with it.

nice truck ! maybe i should try to find heavyduty lowering springs and the airbags then,because i haul in mine a lot,any suggestions on where to look for heavy duty 3 inch drop springs ? i got stuck with regular springs cause cpp quit selling heavy duty ones

ok guys,first off thanks for your help.i ordered 3/4 ton drop springs and lower shock mounts cause mine were broke so once i get the parts and the work done,then i'm going to start asking questions about the airbag spacers,i hope they'll work with the airbags i already bought

ok andy and longhorn man,since i'm still waiting for the weather to break now i'm going to ask about the airbags and spacers,my truck is a 67 longbed fleetside,i just bought new 3/4 ton 3" dropsprings what are the jeep spacers and maybe the air bags in case they won't work with the air bags i already bought they are firestone i don't remember which application i used but they fit good w/o the spacers so i may have to order shorter bags ? this is all so when i load it down i can keep it level. another question i know i should start a different post but i'll ask anyway i need new street radials for my truck not offroad tires i know what i'm doing with the front but on the back i want a 29 or 30 " tall tire but wider than a 255 70 -15,if they can't handle a load that's ok i have 8" and 10 " rims for the back so i can switch them if i'm going to carry a heavy load so what tire or tires should i buy to get the look right i'm either going to run 255 70 15 or 255 60 15's on the front,any help ?
