Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

Hey everyone. I know on the pre 72 stuff we have started threads stating the really hard too find and rare options for that era of trucks. I was curious if there were anything that fell into this on the 73-87 trucks? I know they made a bagillion of these things, but it seems that there are some odd ball parts that people keep saying are hard to find.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

I would say 77 body trim/ mouldings since the inside is painted yellow instead of black for one year only. Also seems the grill and Hood latch support for 73-74 not impossible but not easy either

Flip down cargo light, and a factory bedside toolbox like the same era Fords had. Factory bucket seats are also pretty hard to find in a pickup.

73/74 gmc grill. The Chevy is being reproduced now so no big deal to find one of those now....

Also the tach dashes. I havent ran across one yet in the yards, plenty overpriced ones at swap meets though....

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

I can think of alot of things for the earlier trucks.

The chrome around the door handle on the 73-76

The chrome thing around the door panels on the same year trucks.

Outside trim for the dually fenders.

2 of my 73s I have had you could not buy the right turn signal switch for them. Well the switch was right but you have to unpin and use the stock connector.

73-75 K5 badges.

The armrests that went on the wheelwells in the 90 and 91 blazers

replacement crew cab headliners

Thats all I can think of now

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

Real 73-80 headlamp doors, not the plastic repops. Also hard to find are 73-74 displacement emblems for the grill. I just managed to miss one on eBay recently ...Grrr

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

78-80 interior trim parts are very hard to find. In several years following parts on Ebay for our trucks, the things I see the least and go for the most are:

1) NOS Dash gauge panel, especially Silverado trim

2) NOS Dash insert (the insert on the dash pad, on the passenger side)

3) NOS Dash pad (there was a vendor that had some of these and would offer one per month, and I was lucky enough to get one, but have not seen them in quite a while)

4) NOS headlight bezel set.

5) NOS door panels

6) NOS door panel trim

7) NOS exterior door handles

Those are probably the rarest of the rare parts and generally go for a pretty penny.

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

As I'm finding out, GMC parts are now about impossible to find. I've been trying to find 81-87 "High Sierra 2500" emblems forever and I can't come across any. Same with the 83-84 GMC grille and headlight buckets. Yes, LMC has those but for the OEM ones they're like $250 + shipping for the grille alone.

Re: Hard too find or rare parts for 73-87?

has anyone seen a hand throttle on a 73-74 model? The early 2wd blazer that i got a while back has one. not sure if it matters, but it was a 4speed floor shift. Not sure if it is desirable or not, but im pretty sure its rare. Ive never seen one before.

Not sure if any of you guys are bidding on this, but I think it's nuts that these go for this much. Are these really worth this? IMO, No, I might pay $150 or so for one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1101
