sm 465 hydro clutch set up

hey guys im sure this has been discussed on here some where but i cant find it using the search and ive looked every where i know to look. ive got a 71 k 10 4 speed, 205 transfer, 355 with clutch linkage mounted on the ball below the rear driver exhaust port. its been swapped to dana 60s and next thing im going to do it a completely hydraulic clutch setup, im thinking externally mounted slave cyl and some sort of master cyl mounted to the fire wall. if some one can point me in the right direction thatd be awesome.. if anyone knows of a kit thatd be sweet.. i can fab brackets and such to make the mounts for the slave and master, just dont know what master, slave, or lines to try and find.. thanks in advance

Re: sm 465 hydro clutch set up

I converted my 72K5 SM465 useing 1986 GM Hydro Master, 1980 Toyota Land Cuzer Slave. Bought Advance Adapter pre-fabed slave bracket to fit my castiron bell (the land cruzer crowd swaps chevy drivetrian pretty popular) housing and Toyota Slave. Used -3Earls hose between the two.
Been working ever sence

Re: sm 465 hydro clutch set up

Earl is just a brand of braided hose and AN-3 is the size..it's a smal long braded hose.

Here you see the Advance Adapter bracket they make for the LC guys...
I'll get more up in a sec..

Re: sm 465 hydro clutch set up

FireWall hole

Master Resevour mount "T" I made

You can see the spacer I made on the master cyl. that was needed to bring the master farther away from the firewall cuz the pushrod wouldn't fully dis engage when the pedel was released.
Don't have pics of the inside but I basically drilled a hole in my clutch pedel I used an angle finder to keep the push rod straight with the master body, drilled the hole.

There are alot of different ways to conver to hydro this is just how I did it...

My stock hydrolic setup on my 86 GMC K20 works good. Gotta have the hydro bell housing too though.

If you watch Craigslist, every once in a while you can find a deal on a juice setup. I bought my complete one, with bellhousing, for $75 and the couple hours it took to get there and remove the parts.

Re: sm 465 hydro clutch set up

I bought a master and slave cylinder from speedway motors. The slave didn't seem to like my old style 3 finger clutch, so i'm buying a diaphragm style clutch.

This is the way to go. If something breaks, just go to the auto parts store and get parts.
