Off-Road Brake Discussion

Okay, so a few months ago I redid all the brakes on my K10, and had great brakes. Now the rear drums are completely shot and front discs squeaking like crazy. I have only driven the truck a few hundred miles, but it has gone through alot of mud.

I swapped in ceramic pads in the front and cut drain holes in the bottom of the rear drum backing plates.

What are you guys doing to make your brakes last?

Re: Off-Road Brake Discussion

If you drive in a lot of mud and water not to much you can do, mud is liquid sand paper to brake pads.
I have a atv that all it does is go through mud and water and it eats brake pads about every 100 miles or so.

Re: Off-Road Brake Discussion

I never had any problems with drums and mudding through a whole lot of water my brakes were always good but i also took the hose thoroughly to the brakes after i was done but i absolutely hated after it rained my rear drums would be so touchy it would put me against the windshield, converted to rear newer FF with drums now
