Help Needed For Project
I've been floating around this board for quite a while now and am finally ready to start my own project. I do need some help to find the start of this endevor.
I'm looking for either a 71 or 72 SWB 2WD. It doesnt have to be in the nicest shape because I'm going to tear it down to nothing and put it back together how I want it. These are my plans: I want a LT1 and 4L60E combination. 40/60 Split bench seat out of a late model chev/gmc 3.73 gears hugger oarnge and white paint. Wooden bed with birdseye maple wood. custom built gauge cluster made out of birdseye. I'm looking to build a total cruiser. Something I could jump in and drive across country with no worries. What would really be great is to build one and participate in the power tour across america. I want to take advantage of all of your eyes out there. If anyone spots a start to my project PLEASE let me know. I'm willing to go almost anywhere to pick it up. I could use a vacation anyways. thanks |

I assume you checked the parts board. There are/have been several good projects posted in the last few days. Welcome to the board and good luck...

Howdy from good ole' W VA, this is a great site to find stuff. I'd check your local papers, E-Bay, here etc. to find one. Your ideas are good so get a budget and start. Good luck and have fun!! Yea where's Yoop???

IMHO you will be $$$$ ahead buying someting like FLYING99's project and saving all the grief of sanding, painting and replacing rusted sheet metal. The parts you don't want on his rig you can sell and replace with just what you want. Check out his post on the parts board below. He is now asking $5000! That is an outstanding deal!

How much of a hassle would it be to convert this back to a non-prostreet truck?
Also could i put the front end from a 71 or 72 on the 69. I really like the front ends of these years? thanks for the input |

If you are refering to the grill. it would be very easy, virtually all the front clip parts are the same for 69-72 except for the grill, so instead of getting a 69 grill, you would just need to get a 71-72 grill.
hope this helps, '71
