Re: Square Patina

the lower truck looks to me like someone started wet sanding imperfections in the paint and is prepping for paint without applying primer ... the other one is patina if thats what you wanna call it i just call it rusting

Thanks! That's my plan to keep it the way it is now. Maybe in the far distant future I might paint it the same color blue.

The line between patina and rust lies in how pretentious the owner of said vehicle is. Few things grind my gears more than people spending copious amounts of time and money to make their vehicle look clapped out. Don't get it twisted, I love an old well worn car or truck that shows her age, but this fad of taking nice original paint, or fresh paint and burning through it with a buffer has got to stop! And don't even get me started on people that put caulk beads on fiberglass bodies to look like welds and people going out of their way to make things rust...

I love the sun baked trucks. Here's my old 1 ton from Arizona before it got stolen:

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,

I agree. It's a sweet truck either way, but IMO, it was way cooler before...

This is one of the best examples of a patina square I have seen. It has just the right amount of sun baked fade to look cool, but not clapped out. The addition of fresh wheels, trim and new chrome set it off just right.
